If You Want a Rainbow, You Have to Deal With the Rain

“If you want a rainbow, you have to deal with the rain”.

My husband and I was watching a movie called The Fault in Our Stars and I’ll tell you we bawled our eyes out. Okay maybe it’s just me who really made it rained. He did get me a set of books by John Green years ago but it must’ve walked away somewhere...Perhaps my nephew borrowed it? If you haven’t read the book or watched the movie, I would say get your tissue box ready and maybe a glass of wine and dive right in.

That quote in the movie was so profound it stuck in my head. It really makes you think. A quote that anyone can relate to, whatever you may be going through. Thunderstorms in life are inevitable. You just have to weather through it and it will shape the person that you become. As a whole, we spend a great deal of time avoiding pain. The Fault in Our Stars teaches us that pain demands to be felt. No matter what, we don’t get to choose if we get hurt in this world but we can choose who can hurt us. We can pick our poison and perhaps at the very least be happy with our choice.

Remember, without the rain you won’t see the rainbow. Just hang in there and after dealing with the rain, you will appreciate the rainbow even more. We only live once. Enjoy the little things and make every day count!

On another note, just sharing a shelfie of amazing books for growing minds to strengthen their self worth. Also to help them learn skills to tackle any storms that come their way. What are your favourite books?

Most of these books I got from Dollarama but you can find them on Amazon or Indigo, a couple from Indigo, and a book from Value Village. I have recently bought some books from Amazon also. Most of the girls’ novels I buy is from the thrift store for as low as $1. What a great steal! I love buying from the thrift store because they can read it over and over again. Another option was when the library was open, we would go to the library often and pick out books for them to read. Where do you buy your books?
