Happy Pride Play!!!
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue and the dreams that you dream of do come true.
To celebrate Pride Month, I created a rainbow themed sensory activity using diy coloured pasta with food colouring. I used different shapes, sizes and textures of pasta to help add to the feel. I used red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple food colouring. You can also choose any colour combination.
Materials:
1 cup of pasta
1 tsp vinegar
Food colouring
Disposable cups
Toothpick
Ziplock bags for each colour
Sheet tray lined with parchment paper
Direction:
Put 1 cup of pasta in each ziplock bag.
Pour 1 tsp of vinegar in a cup. Squeeze desired amount of colour and mix with toothpick.
Pour mixture into ziplock bag and shake until colour is spread even.
Spread pasta onto a lined sheet tray and let dry approximately 1 hour.
For the sensory play, I used a Pop It heart rainbow toy which the kids love. This will surely entertain them for hours. I used oatmeal for the base and added a bamboo mortal from Dollarama.
For sorting out colours I used items from a kit (picture below) I purchased from Amazon. Alternatively, you can use silicone cupcake liners as holders. You can use any colour beads or pom poms to correspond the liners. I used wooden scoop spoons also purchased from Amazon.
Don’t forget to be proud and love who you are and be free to love whoever!
